Introduction

The SC09FPC is a robust solution designed to extend and protect Profibus-DP fieldbus networks. In demanding industrial environments, converting electrical Profibus signals to fiber optics is a critical strategy for overcoming the inherent distance limitations of copper cabling and ensuring signal integrity in areas with high electromagnetic interference. By leveraging fiber optic technology, the SC09FPC series enables reliable, long-distance data transmission, safeguarding control processes from disruption.

The primary function of the SC09FPC is to convert Profibus-DP electrical signals for transmission over fiber optic cable, seamlessly integrating into new or existing fieldbus networks. The converter acts as a transparent link, extending the reach of the network while maintaining the real-time performance essential for industrial automation. It is engineered to support point-to-point, star, and daisy-chain network topologies, offering significant flexibility in network design. Designed for high availability, the series features a compact, 35mm DIN rail mountable form factor, redundant power inputs to protect against a single power source failure, and includes the single-port SC09FPC and dual-port SC09FPC-2 models to facilitate various network architectures.
