The SC04M2 is a high-performance, bidirectional converter designed to bridge the gap between RS232 and RS485 communication protocols. Its primary function is to convert RS232 signals into a 2-wire RS485 format and vice versa, effectively extending the operational range of standard RS232 devices far beyond their inherent limitations. This capability allows a single RS232 host to communicate with multiple devices in a "multi-drop" configuration on a shared RS485 network, streamlining system topology and reducing cabling complexity.
