It addresses the critical vulnerability of electronic equipment to disturbances originating from Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), nearby lightning strikes, and electrical surges caused by "hot-plugging" charged cables. By isolating the serial interface from these high-energy events, the SP485-S preserves the integrity of connected devices.
The device achieves this robust protection through a multi-stage defense mechanism that combines current limitation, aggressive voltage clamping, and surge arresting. By grounding and dissipating harmful electrical energy before it can reach the serial port, the SP485-S provides a reliable safeguard.
