Introduction
The GW BMS 02 fulfills a crucial role in modernizing and expanding Building Management Systems. It is strategically designed to integrate legacy or serial-based BACnet MSTP (Master-Slave/Token-Passing) networks with modern, Ethernet-based BACnet IP backbones. This allows building owners to preserve their investment in existing MSTP controllers and devices while leveraging the speed, scalability, and flexibility of an IP-based infrastructure.
As a dedicated protocol device server, its primary role is to act as a seamless converter between BACnet MSTP and BACnet IP. It enables BACnet IP clients on the main network to discover, monitor, and control devices residing on a connected BACnet MSTP sub-network, effectively unifying disparate physical layers into a single logical BACnet system.
