EDS-2005-EL Overview

Introduction

In modern building automation systems, integrating specialized standalone systems into a unified Building Management System (BMS) is essential for centralized monitoring and operational efficiency. Protocol gateways play a critical role by translating proprietary communication formats into open standard protocols, which is especially important for life-safety systems where accurate and reliable transmission of fire alarm data to the BMS is required.

The GW BMS A is a dedicated protocol gateway designed to integrate advanced fire alarm panels with building management networks. It captures proprietary ASCII printer protocol data from the fire panels and converts it into Modbus RTU and BACnet IP, enabling real-time monitoring of alarms, device status, and fault conditions through any compatible BMS or SCADA system. Preconfigured protocol drivers eliminate the need for custom development, ensuring fast commissioning and reliable representation of critical fire safety information.
