Introduction

The San Telequip SC10EK X E is a compact and efficient Serial to Ethernet converter designed to provide seamless network connectivity to any device with a serial port. Its primary function is to act as a bridge, converting serial data streams (RS232, RS422, or RS485) into TCP/IP packets that can be transmitted over an Ethernet LAN. This allows legacy equipment to be remotely accessed, monitored, and managed as if it were a native network device.

This capability unlocks powerful applications, such as running serial port communications over long distances via the corporate LAN, eliminating the physical constraints of traditional serial cables. Furthermore, when used with a Virtual COM port utility, the converter enables protocol-independent serial devices to communicate effectively over the network, extending the life and utility of valuable existing assets. The following sections detail the specific features and technical specifications that deliver this robust functionality.
